As active, motivated, generous souls we want to make a difference in our communities, and in the world around us.
We believe in the power of our bodies and wallets to shift a paradigm, to add to the bank balance of a cause, to increase the chance that a cure can be found, or to help a person who wants to change their life.
Below are some Tribe Member fundraising pages that support causes we believe in. Please find one that speaks to you and help us make a difference in the lives of our broader community and the world!
ZION HALF MARATHON, APRIL 2017
Happier Outside Core Community member, Tara, is heading to Zion National Park to run a half-marathon and raise money for the National Parks. Her ambitious goal of $1000 will go toward supporting national parks throughout the country.
"Help send me to Zion! By signing up for a Zion Half Marathon Charity Bib, I've agreed to help raise $1000 for the National Park Foundation! Donate here to help preserve our National Parks. Once I hit my goal, I'll get to run the Zion Half Marathon! I have until March 20th, 2017, to reach my goal. Thanks in advance for your support!"
TREK ACROSS MAINE, JUNE 2017.
The Trek Across Maine is a 3-day, 180 mile cycling event from the mountains of Sunday River to the sea in Belfast. As the largest fundraising event of its kind in the nation for the American Lung Association, the Trek has raised more than $22 million in the past 30 years. Join more than 2,000 cyclists and 750 volunteers on this one of a kind journey on Father’s Day Weekend.
Date: June 16 - 18, 2017
Start Location: Sunday River Ski Resort - Newry, ME
Finish Location: Steamboat Landing - Belfast, ME
Mish, and a team of friends and coworkers from Hurricane Island Outward Bound School, are doing the Trek this year. Mish's dad is suffering from Emphysema and so the motivation is very personal - any dollars raised will go toward research for finding cures to lung disease which is close to her heart. Please consider donating as little as $10 or as much as $100 to help her reach her personal fundraising goal of $550. Click on the badge below to go to the fundraising page:
Islesboro Crossing - LIFEFLIGHT OF MAINE. AUGUST 2017.
Now in its fifth year, this open water swim attracts swimmers across the country to raise funds for LifeFlight of Maine, a nonprofit organization and the state's only emergency medical helicopter service. Whether you're swimming, paddling, or volunteering, this fundraiser will challenge and inspire you. Because when you cross the bay, you're helping LifeFlight bring the hospital to the patient--whether it's across the bay or across the state of Maine.
This 5k ocean swim across the West Penobscot Bay channel offers a heartwarming spirit, inspiring stories, and a hero's welcome on Islesboro, including a flyover salute from the LifeFlight helicopter. The energy and enthusiasm of this event is infectious and is a highlight of the midcoast fundraising calendar each year. Click on "Support Mish Sommers" below to make a donation.
